Product Overview

BONDERITE® S-FN 310A ACHESON (also called EMRALON 310) is one part of a two-part system with BONDERITE® S-OT 310B ACHESON. These components create a dispersion that is a phenolic, resin-bonded PTFE lubricant coating easily sprayed onto a wide range of materials. Common substrates include wood, metal, rubber, and plastic. Once cured, the coating provides high corrosion resistance, excellent surface adhesion, superior release properties, and a low coefficient of friction. This dispersion can protect and lubricate components where traditional PTFE coatings cannot be used, in addition to a more uniform film thickness and extended wear life.

To mix BONDERITE® S-FN 310A and 310B ACHESON, 310A should be slowly added to 310B while using a propeller-type mixer or equivalent equipment. This mixer will create a proper vortex with continuous agitation, resulting in a smooth dispersion.

Application via an atomizing spray gun is recommended to create a desired coating thickness of 10 to 25 micrometers on metal surfaces and 5 to 10 micrometers on rubber. Another appropriate method is electrostatic spray equipment with low internal resistance. For best results, the coating can be cured at one of the following curing cycles:

60 minutes at 300°F (substrate temperature)
10 minutes at 350°F (substrate temperature)
8 minutes at 400°F (substrate temperature)
4 minutes at 500°F (substrate temperature)

Problems Solved

Cheap, conventional dry film lubricants often lead to issues such as insufficient antifriction performance, poor adhesion, and inadequate lubrication. They can also react with oils or chemicals, which break down the lubricant film, impacting performance and lifespan. These problems cause increased maintenance, downtime, and potential equipment damage, especially problematic for challenging lubrication needs and lifetime applications. Traditional PTFE dry film coatings cannot adhere easily to flexible or neutral substrates like rubber or plastic.
